The Ryan R. Wagner Memorial Scholarship is available to graduating seniors from Middleton or Appoquinimink high school. The person must be planning to enroll in the University of Delaware engineering. The deadline to apply is March 15th, and the award is $2,000.

2. Philip L. Bartlett Scholarship for First-Year Students

Students who wish to apply must be a graduating senior planning to attend the University of Delaware and show financial need based on FAFSA results. The scholarship is funded by the Delaware Community Foundation. The award amount is $2,500. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is March 15th.

3. UD Provost Scholarship for First-Year Students

This scholarship is given to students with an impressive academic record of around a 1350 combined SAT or ACT Composite Score of 29 and 3.5 grade-point average.  The student must fill out by January 15th the FAFSA form and will be notified 2-3 after being enrolled /accepted into the school with results on if the student received the scholarship. The scholarship reward is $1,000 a year.

4. UD Trustee Scholarship for First-Year Students

The UD Trustee Scholarship is for students who have been admitted into the school and shown great academic merit. The students that are eligible must have credentials around a 1500 combined SAT or ACT Composite Score of 33 and 4.0 grade-point average. The award is between $4,000-$6,000 a year, the deadline is January 15th after the student has filled out their FAFSA forms.

5. NAIDA Foundation Scholarship for First-Year Students

The NAIDA Foundation Scholarship was put on by the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association, which was created to inform those of the automobile industry. The scholarship is chosen for those who are residents of the various regions they choose from, Delaware being one of them. The deadline for the application is post marked by March 9th. The award amount for the scholarship is $3,500 and they award 4 people each year. You must show high merit through GPA, class rank, and test scores from either the ACT or SAT.

6. Phi Theta Kappa Awards Scholarship for Upper Year Students

The Phi Theta Kappa Awards is a scholarship that students who have performed well in their classes from community college. Phi Theta Kappa is an honors society for community college students. The reward is $2,000 per year for in state and $6,000 for out of state. To be eligible a student must be a Phi Theta Kappa member, a cumulative 3.5 GPA, has completed 30 credits, and has enrolled each semester(fall and spring) for at least 12 credits. There is no deadline but make sure you also fill out the FAFSA document by January 15th.

7. Non-Resident Transfer Scholarship for Upper Year Students

This scholarship is for students who are transferring to the college who do not live in the state. To be eligible you must be able to transfer at least 30 credit hours of coursework, have a 3.5 GPA on transcript, maintain at least a 3.0, and take at least 12 credit hours each semester(fall and spring). You are automatically considered for the scholarship once final transcripts have been submitted and approved.

8. Donald J. Puglisi Scholarship Award for Upper Year Students

This scholarship is for juniors going into their senior year and are enrolled in the finance major. The award varies and the person who receives must have shown great excellence both academically and through leadership skills within the community. You must have at minimum at 3.25 GPA, and to complete the process, you need a recommendation from a faculty/or advisor as well as a turned in resume by May 15th.

9. Delaware Diplomats Study Abroad Scholarship for Upper Year Students

The Delaware Diplomats Scholarship Program  is a means to award students for working hard and looking to broaden their knowledge and experience by taking part in a study abroad program. The scholarship requirements are completing badges in World Knowledge, Intercultural Friendship and Study Abroad Preparation as well as make the deadline time period for the application between May-September 15th. The award can be up to $1,500.

10. Alpha Gamma Rho Education Endowment Fund Scholarship

This scholarship was in memory of Dr. Charles E. Mason and is to award those who show great potential as a leader in the agricultural industry. The applicant must be a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, can be studying any major but must indicate how it will make a difference in agriculture, you must 2 hard copies of the application, including short essay and current resume, delivered to: Undergraduate Student Services Office, and have at least a 2.7 GPA. The award amount is $3,000.

The basketball team has its season from October to March. The basketball team coach is Martin Ingelsby. The basketball team has a majority of their games and practices at the Bob Carpenter. The team competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association at the Division I level and the

The first season of the football team started in 1889. The team’s coach is Danny Rocco. The defensive coordinator is Chris Cosh. 1. Morris Library

The Morris Library is located on campus at the University of Delaware. This is the most popular library, and houses all of the resources listed above. The hours vary, but during the week are 8am to 2am daily.

2. Chemistry Library

Chemistry Library - Laboratory The Chemistry Library is called a “branch library” because it isn’t exactly a library, but rather on the second floor of the Brown Laboratory. All science disciplines following the chemistry track, also including biochemistry, are included in the Chemistry Library. The hours are a little shorter than the Morris Library, 8am to 7pm.

3. Marine Studies Library

Marine Science Students Unlike many universities, the Marine Studies Library serves all students in the College of Earth, Ocean and Environmental Studies. There is limited space available, only 50 seats. The hours are 8am to 5pm every week.

4. Physics Library

This library is pretty self-explanatory, holding information for everyone involved in the Physics discipline. There are 34 seats available, so get there quick! The hours are 8am to 7pm most days.

2. Agricultural College Council (AgCC)

AgCC gives students an insight of identity, provides events for students to socialize and allows students to raise their opinions.   AgCC supports, initiates, and manages services which are beneficial to CANR students and promotes student-faculty cooperation to better suit student needs.  AgCC assists in the preparation, organizing, and promoting the Fall and Spring Ag Socials, Ag Carnival, Ag Day, the Advisor Appreciation Reception, movie nights, game nights, and study breaks.

3. Blue Hen Birding Club

Blue Hen Birding is official birding club. They’re a nature-oriented club, with a focus on providing students the chance to go off campus, explore natural scenes around the east coast, and study their field ornithology skills – even if they’re not wildlife majors!

4. Food Science Club

This club strives to bring Food Science education to a whole new level. This club is all about serving the interests of students and expanding their horizons. Their meetings consist of guest speakers from the food industry, trips to local establishments, and the ever-popular Institute of Food Technologist meetings.

5. Horticulture Club

University of Delaware faculty members in all departments are invited to participate in a workshop Aug. 15-17 that will focus on ways to design and support effective student writing assignments. The workshop is designed to help faculty rethink how the courses they teach can provide students an opportunity to learn the kinds of writing valued in a particular field. Participants will learn strategies to incorporate high-impact writing activities into their courses.


The Taste of Newark festival features art and auctions on the lawn of UD’s Old College.


The 15th annual Taste of Newark food festival will be held from noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 30, on the lawn of the University of Delaware’s Old College in Newark. Taste of Newark guests can enjoy culinary delights from 50 Newark restaurants accompanied by the wares of the area’s finest vineyards and breweries.

The summer Farmers Market, which is held every Thursday through Sept. 20, offers a wide variety of locally grown produce, baked goods and more.
Along with items from local area farms, the market includes a Chef’s Table where visitors can sample and take home unique summer recipes.
