The golf team has grown into a team of impressive players. Not only is it a more of a leisure sport but it also has shaped into one that is noted for their team performance. The school’s golf team has competed in with the NCCGA Tournaments. In the past, they have placed in tournaments at the Seaview Golf Resort Bay Course and Inniscrone Golf Club in Avondale.
2. Field Hockey
Temple University has a field hockey team that is no newbie to winning.
Temple field hockey teams have finished among the NCAA’s top 20. They have received this prestigious honor no less than 13 times in the last 15 seasons. They have also been in the Atlantic 10 tournament for 10 seasons during the years 2003-2012. Their current coach is Marybeth Freeman who started as the coach back in 2015.
3. Cross Country
The Cross Country team at Temple University competes in plenty of competitions such as the NCAA regional and ACC Championship.
Their head coach for both men and women’s cross country is Elvis Forde who became the coach in 2015. In the year 2012, a student by the name Travis Mahoney was the first temple student to receive points in the NCAA championship.
The Temple University soccer team was founded in 1926. They have their home games at the Temple Owls Sports Complex. The school currently competes in the NCAA Division I Soccer competitions as well as the American Athletic Conference. Their coach is Brian Rowland who has been with the team since 2017.
The sport of lacrosse has been a sport at Temple since 1975. The team has been in the various national championships. The game has afforded students to take home the title of NCAA final four and even won 5 A-10 championships over a 15-year time span.
Football is a high contact sport that is seen by many at the school as a fun sport to watch. The football team prides itself on being able to compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision as a member of the American Athletic Conference . The team is also one of the last Big East football teams left in the American Athletic Conference.
Crew is a sport that has consistently performed well for Temple University. The team competes and places high on their regattas they have even been invited to seven invitations to Great Britain’s premier regatta. They are often seen winning impressive medals for their races as well. The team is coached by Dr. Gavin R. White who has coached for over 35 seasons.
The sport of basketball has been enjoyed and loved by the school for a while. Temple University Owls compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I as a member of the American Athletic Conference. The school has had for basketball over 1,903 wins under their belt after the 2017-18 season got done.
9. Ice Hockey
The school’s ice hockey team competes as an American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I team. The team practices around two times a week and plays on average 25 games for the year. The team does hold tryouts for the sport. You will find the team having their practices and home games at The Rink on Old York Road.
The temple tennis team practices Monday-Wednesday from 6:30pm-8:30pm at the Pavilion Tennis Courts The school has many competitions with universities in the area, such as UPenn, Drexel, and UDel, as well as enter various tournaments sponsored by the United States Tennis Association. Their president is Jessica Moore.
Temple University has a fairly large school with tons of students looking to take up sports. The school has plenty of variety giving students a chance to take the sport that best suits them. The school has leisure activities such as golf but there are also others that give a good full-body workout such as basketball but all sports have consistently proven to be made of talented students that have performed well in every season.
