10 Buildings to Know at Southern Utah University

Southern Utah University

Southern Utah University is a public university located in Cedar City, Utah. It was originally founded back in 1897. Currently they have over 1,800 undergraduate students enrolled. Here’s ten of their campus buildings you need to know

1. Gerald R. Sherratt Library

The Gerald R. Sherratt Library is a popular building on campus. There are tons of different information sources available here. This building has a very unique architectural design with a massive sunroof.

2. Dixie Leavitt Business Building

The Dixie Leavitt Business building is a smaller building on campus, but it is well used. There are plenty of great business classrooms and lecture halls for use in this building.

3. Bennion Building

The Bennion Building is the accounting building on campus. It is a part of the business school, however its main focus is accounting. There’s tons of accounting services available inside.

4. Sharwan Smith Student Center

The Sharwan Smith Student Center is definitely the most popular building on campus. This center has tons of food courts, study spaces, lounges and more for students to use.

5. Geoscience Building

The Geoscience building is the home to many science majors ranging from geography to geology. It is one of the newer buildings on campus with advanced laboratories inside.

6. Engineering and Technology Building

The Engineering and Technology Building is a smaller building on campus, but it is well used. There’s a bunch of different engineering laboratories and computer labs inside.

7. Skaggs Center for Health and Molecular Science

The Skaggs Center for Health and Molecular Science has a very unique and recognizable design on campus. There’s tons of advanced laboratories located inside that are focused on molecular sciences.

8. Conference Center

Located a ways away from main campus is the Conference Center. This building isn’t as used as the others, however when it is used, it’s for important conferences and events.

8. Randall L Jones Theatre

The Randall L Jones Theatre is an outdoor theatre center near the Southern Utah Center. There are plenty of student run and local theatre events that are held here in warmer weather.

9. Liberal Arts Center

The Liberal Arts Center is one of the prettier buildings on campus, but it’s smaller compared to others. Southern Utah is a science focused campus, however they still have a building dedicated to liberal arts.

10. Old Main

Old Main is located right next to the Liberal Arts Center, and it is the first building built on campus back in the late 1800’s. This makes Old Main the oldest building on campus. It is used for many different majors on campus.
