Top 10 Buildings at Northern Kentucky University You Need to Know

Knowing buildings and your way around campus is the key to not looking like the new kid. Of course, your first day to class may be hard. However, if you’re already familiar with campus, you won’t be afraid of it. Here are then buildings you need to know at Northern Kentucky University.

1. Founders Hall

This building is home to some of the offices for the College of Health Professions, Honors College, Political Science, Criminal Justice, the Integrative Studies program, and the Department of Organizational Leadership. Students will also have access to the Institute for Student Research and Creative Activity that has art spaces and equipment.

2. Health Innovation Center

The Health Innovation Center houses the College of Health Professions. Here, students will be able to nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and other areas of health sciences. Students will have access to simulation spaces, clinical suites for nursing, imaging suites, and classrooms.

3. Dorothy Westerman Herrmann Natural Science Center

This building is the home for the CINSAM and the Haile Digital Planetarium. It acts as an environment that motivates students. Students will have access to numerous technological equipment, smart classrooms, hands on learning, laboratories for teaching and research, and study spaces.

4. Griffin Hall

This building is the home for the College of Informatics. Students will be able to find a 120-seat auditorium that has a digital media wall. It also has an award-winning department that specializes in applied informatics. Students will also find digital equipment and IT facilities.

5. Louie B. Nunn Hall

This building was named after Louie B. Nunn who was a Kentucky governor. It is home to the Salmon P. Chase College of Law. It house a law library with various collections and data statistics, books, a judicial practice court, classrooms for students, and offices for the College of Law faculty.

James C. and Rachel M. Votruba Student Union

The James C. and Rachel M. Votruba Student Union is the hub to campus life. Student will be able to find lounge areas, places to meet and socialize with friends that are equiped with chairs, sofas, and large-TV screens, a gaming system, pool and foosball tables, meeting rooms, a grand ballroom, and multiple dining options to grab a bite to eat.

7. University Center

The University Center houses key student services. These services include an academic advising hub, student health services, career services, and the Veteran’s Resource Station. Students will also find tech support at the Norse Tech Bar that also houses iPads, MacBooks, and a 3D printer to rent out or utilize.

This building is home to the administrative departments for the university. These offices includes the offices for the president and vice president, admissions for the university, graduate education, human resources, financial aid and assistance, student account services, and the registrar.

9. A.D. Albright Health Center

This building is certified in LEED Gold. It is home to the A.D. Albright Health Center which also houses the campus recreational center. Students will be able to have access to exercise equipment, recreational studios, classrooms, departmental offices, and the campus food pantry.

10. Fine Arts Center

This building is the home to the Fine Arts Center. It houses the School of the Arts. Majors for this school include visual art, music, theatre, and dance.
