Classes are almost in session and you know what that means! Loads and loads of stress. However, college doesn’t have to be stressful all the time. In fact, it’s meant to be fun! Below we have compiled a list of ten of the easiest classes that you can take at Notre Dame de Namur University.

1. ART 1001 – Drawing I

This class will introduce students to the fundamentals of drawing. Students will learn about drawing techniques, sketching, rendering, charcoal, conte, cast drawing, perspective, and chiaroscuro. Students will also learn about the history of drawing.

2. THE 1000 – Introduction to the Theatre

This class will introduce students to the world of theatre. Students will learn about materials, techniques, and artists in theatre. Students will also learn about the various roles of people in theatre that work behind the scenes and the evolution of drama as a whole.

3. HST 2100 – History of Western Culture

This class will introduce students to the history of culture in the Western world. Students will learn about various ideas in culture, people and social structure in culture, cultural movements , and how the modern world has been shaped.

4. SOC 1001 – Introduction to Sociology

This class will introduce students to the principles of sociology. Students will learn about individual behavior, contemporary social issues, social class privilege, racism, and sexism. Students will also learn about the structure of society in today’s world as well.

5. MUS 1101 – Music Fundamentals

What is music? It connects many people around the world to one another. This class will introduce students to the fundamentals of music. Students will learn about a variety of topics which includes clefs, notes, rhythms, basic piano skills, and musical terminology.

6. CUL 2400 – African Cinema, Culture, Language

In this course, students will learn about films from Cameroon, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Congo, and Martinique. Students will also be introduced to the language of film because many of the films are in the French language.

7. DAN 1030 – Stylistic Forms of Dance for Stage

Get up and groove! This class will explore the various forms of dance and dance history. Student swill explore different styles of dance, dance that can be performed on stage, and how dance has evolved overtime.

8. PHL 1001 – Introduction to Philosophy

Do you think critically in certain situations or about the world in general? This class will introduce students to topics in philosophy. These topics include contemporary philosophical questions and the history of philosophy.

9. COM 1000 – Introduction to Communication

Are you a good communicator? This class will introduce students to the fundamentals of communication. Students will learn how to utilize tools in broadcast, print, radio, film, and Internet in order to communicate their own thoughts to the general public.

10. BIO 1009 – Introduction to Biology

In this course, students will learn about the fundamentals of biology. Students will learn about living organisms, biological genetics, cell chemistry, cell structure, cell function, and metabolism.
